Actually watched Internal Affairs III twice last night, because it wasnt till the last bit did I realise Leon Lai is a good guy. Never really like his acting, but I give up high scores for his role in IA. Think in the first serial, Andy Lau is good, then in the second its Tony Leong, and Leon Lai for the third. If you hadnt watch it, I think you should... Think you would enjoy it quite a bit.

And guess what, I start to really enjoy the process of watch vcd late at night in my room, on my bed. Very comfortable thing to do. Any nice vcd titles to recommend?

Friday, July 30, 2004

Was talking to blah yesterday. Quite nice since I hadnt talk to him for some time. And rent Internal affairs III. Going to watch soon.

I think it was two morning ago, when I woke up and received an sms from my friend. She text me saying thanks for remembering her birthday. But the unusual thing was that, I remembered her birthday one month from the exact day, because I always thought it was 28july. She said she is glad to have me as her friend and hope that I enjoy having her as a friend too. I smiled and replied her saying that of course I am glad to be her friend, especially when she can tolerate my blur-ness even if it meant remembering her birthday one month later. Known her since semester 1 year 1. Come to think of it, if without her, I would have felt much more lost.
And today is the last day of internship for sy. Finally he had mixed feelings for leaving the company after ten, eleven weeks.

Listening to this korean cd that my dad happened to get...

Enjoyed watching the 7pm show. One of the reasons is because a large part of the story is taken in Shanghai, a place that I remain impressive after visiting China. The road signs, Shanghai Bund, Pudong Business District... I recognise them. And guess what, I start to want to find out more about China. Start to be interested in their stuff :) Remembered when I just came back, I was watching this coffee house in China by the name of Blue Bird. Then there was this Madam Something laundry shop and... Oh and I also understand why the Japanese detective show can be popular. Because occasionally I would watch it. The plots are interesting, original and beyond expectations.

Anyway going to switch on the radio while I fall asleep. Because the radio has always been in my sister's room, so if I want to listen to music around in my room, either the computer or my receiver. But for half the morning, it had been nice with the radio on. Anyway I am done with all the cards that I set to finish :) Going to enjoy this one week plus before school reopens...

Wanted to go out today but maybe not. Anyway its going out alone, so alright. Would be out tomorrow, at my mum's office and have to collect the skirts that the tailor made. Would be meeting friends on sat as well. As for sun, would be going to watch fireworks with my friends. Then might be meeting another friend on monday or tuesday. :) Going to continue my card- making. Yesterday I finished a thank-U card for my friend. Then going to finish a bon- voyage card and start making a belated 21st birthday card... Haha. Oh then my friend called just now and was helping to find that seasonal parking number... then we talked for a while...Going to have breakfast soon. And hearing more xie- xie these few days :) And just now the radio was playing one old song. Still remembered the last time I heard it, it was during the exam periods, and my friend and I were in the library sr listening to radio and was talking about that song and really heard it!!!

And he no longer wears that necklace that we went to buy together...

Think I am just feeling weary since I hadnt been able to take a nap in the
afternoon. If I dont need to monitor the bidding tomorrow, then I probably
would go anywhere I want to. Spend some time with myself.

And, can you imagine, my friend actually guess what I wanted from him while he is going HK & Taiwan for holiday. All 3 correct! Bingo... super mind-reading cum fotune- telling skills he had right... He said it was easy to guess... Let you guess and what are your three guesses? (Blog tomorrow to tell you the answer). And I ask him to get me one more stuff :) Going to charge my phone and back to sleep for a while more...

Woke up at 6am to jog. After jogging, wanted to buy dumplings noodles for breakfast, but too lazy to go downstairs again. Haha. Anyway asked my dad to help me rent Internal Affairs III, hope he gets it. And was talking to my friend for erm 1.5hrs last nite. Happy :) Even though really dont want the holidays to end, there are still things to look forward to...

Tuesday, July 27, 2004

Finally round1A is over. Gotten Business Policy + Financial Marktets + International Financial Management... But might change. Depending on my friend. At least round1A is settled. Guess what, didnt had time to do much today- monitoring the bidding round, monitoring and monitoring + some tv + dinner + some ironing... But never mind... :) As long as everything turns out fine and well, everything and anything is worth it.

If everyday is like today, nothing more or nothing less, how nice...

Wanted to wake up to jog but realised I was really tired that I decided to leave it to tomorrow. Haha. Hadnt decide if to take Making sense of society or Risk & Insurance. Argh! Must decide by 5pm today. Anyway really wanted to go cycling. And you know, this sunday, there is this fireworks display.

Monday, July 26, 2004

Super perplexed as to what modules to take. Dont know if one core + 3 Level3 Finance module + one IT module will kill. Sounds so right. But if I am taking this combination, then I have another friend whom is also taking these 5 too! Isit that great! Tell you, its more than great. Sounds like winning many combination of toto. But this- worrisome- me is still worried. How? God, please drop some hints to me.

Anyway was at West Mall today. Bought a bag, a blouse and borrowed some library books (good since I would be at home for these few days monitoring the bidding thingy). But spending money again! And was in this shop that was playing Ocean's cd. Must be why I bought that blouse. Haha, excuses.

And, super missing the holidays seeing only 2 weeks of it left. Hope to have time for a swim, a cycle, some shopping (not again?!), some gathering, some reading, some cardmaking.... Sounds like I dont want the holidays to end haha! Who wants?

Sunday, July 25, 2004

So tempting to take afternoon naps :) Finally had time to sit in front of the computer and recalled what had happened on Friday. One day when my mood is like the roller coaster. Argh!
In Brotherhood, Jin Tae's fiance said, if everyday is like this, nothing more and nothing less, how nice...
I thought so too.

Was so busy on fri & sat that I didnt even have the time to sit down and write. Many things happened as well. :(

Friday morning, I was looking at the modules to take. So happy when I would be taking four modules with sy! Then later sy called to say that GE called & there goes my happiness. Down the drain.

Z messaged and I went over to Bugis to watch Brotherhood. Must be almost two years since I last went to the movies. Dont ask me why, cos I dont know either. Went into the theater with a heavy heart, cos while I was on the train, I was still talking to sy. But the movie is good. Music is good too. But thought it could be less "war-ry". The maggots & the scene where the solider committed suicide were abit disgusting. But overall, not too bloody considering the theme. But guess the brotherhood spirit says it all. Should go watch it. A very touching show. Makes me even want a brother more :)

Nothing very interesting about my sat though. Going to find some time later today to write. And hopefully when the week comes by, it is going to be happy.

And, I know I cant even say the answer is: Me

Friday, July 23, 2004

Guess what.. I would have to stick near my computer when bidding starts, cos my friend would be either at work or enjoying ice- cream in taiwan.. Haha! I am in- charge of the bidding of 2 persons. But never mind, I am still happy now. And enjoy your afternoon k. 430pm is coming soon.

Thursday, July 22, 2004

It gives you happiness. But it takes away your happiness. Maybe thats why it could give you happiness in the first place.

Wednesday, July 21, 2004

I know I am suffering from the same old illness again... what to do?

I know only your name now/I used to know you but not now/ Or did I ever really?/ Sometimes I might get you right still/ But all the times, I feel that I no longer know you/ Still, the feelings never change/ Nothing change as much as you.

Super stressed now because I really dont know what modules to choose from. Anyway was at suntec this afternoon. And bought a trolley from carefour and had to drag it all the way home. So tiring because its really heavy. Luckily mum was at the station otherwise I probably have to drag it further. Came home and took a nap. At least now I am feeling more refreshed.  Please call....

Tuesday, July 20, 2004

Looking at what modules to take anyway- twice per year kinda of thing.. And hope my phone bills isnt going too high, because I dont know why, but recently, the moment I am out of my house, my ringing machine rings on me. Or I would have this temptation to chat on the phone. Argh, bad habit.

Anyway feeling feverish now (must be one of my imagination again). Maybe because I didnt sleep much the day before. Dont think I would be getting much more sleep tonight also.  Going to watch some tv later, then looking at what modules to take (yap, still cant decide!),  continue my card making thingy, remember to search for the magnet (in the shape of an oven) that i really want, do some writing...

The happiest thing today was when I heard you said: I take whatever you taking. I know it means nothing, but I am still happy over nothing...

Even though it should be still raining outside (in the comp room so i dont know whats going on outside), I am feeling warm & sunny. But I dont like if you were the one who gave me the shine. I thought I am capable to find my own... Happy or sad, I already forgot how to distinguish.

Was re-reading The Travellers' home, the writer's memories, something I wrote during this holiday. Cos Zen was saying this story is nice. Suddenly felt like doing what I did that day all over again. Though without the- you, everything is going to be different, I thought, maybe I would be nearer to you if I would to do it all over again. But, I also missed cycling too.  So its not always about you. So its not all about you either.  Though, I admit, Doc Tan is right. I missed you. He just had one word for me. Move on. I wonder if nothing ever started, where should I move on from. Move to?

Going to bed but I know I am still thinking about...

The promise, if it was/ taken so lightly/ blew away by the wind/ forgotten like the passing music of the ears/ aside like the bus scenery/ Yet once againit left a reminder with me/ A reminder unheard by the birds.

Oh did you watch the korean movie- One Day? So touching, I was crying when I watched it. And Jeff Chang singing in that charity show yesterday. Woo, been so long since I last heard him sing. His love ballards were my favourite erm in my late primary & early secondary school days...

My heart breaks/ when I gained conscious/ when I remembered I am here/ Only me.

Seems like I am addicted to sadness & durian ice - cream. Haha! Never heard of people getting addicted to sadness right. Anyway if anything about durian ice- cream, it has to be Springdear's @ Parkway Parade. Nope, not suntec, not the ice- cream toast @ Ya Kun also...

Quoting from the tv show: Are memories sweet or painful. I dont know where he is but memories are always with me. They cant run away, and no one can snatch it from me.

Really? I thought time always snatch them away from me.

p/s: Dont know why i am unable to do a proper paragraphing thingy, that explains why all those "/" .

If that song is meant for her
I already feel the hurt
But I let my tears hide behind my voice
so that you and me always remain as you and me.

I wonder how my happiness look like?

Bumming around with nothing plan. Probably be looking at those buz modules to decide what are probably modules to take. Waiting for arts modules too. Halfway through the card I am making. Kind of lose inspiration of how to continue though I thought my initial design is good. Maybe just not motivated. Feeling just as moody.

Saturday, July 17, 2004

Still tired now, though slept till 10 plus and took a one/two hour nap. Was out all day yesterday. Was teaching Mum computer in the morning, went suntec & orchard in the afternoon with jy. Wanted to get formal clothes but didnt manage to. Only bought hair accessories at Hereen. Anway was really late by the time I reached Yew Tee. Cos the train stopped at Yishun and I had to wait till the third train did I manage to board.

Big s21 crowd- Eric, Irvin, Pei Thung, Justin, Chong Hua, Yik Aik, Alan, Ben, Melvin, Shufen, Xue Yan, Yvonne... Eric, Shufen, Irvin & I were playing bridge AGAIN. Think we were kinda addicted to it. After that, Irvin, Xue Yan, Yik Aik & Justin were playing too. Hadnt felt much closer since we left college. And they actually served soft drinks with alcohol and we didnt know (though we found it weird) till we started to feel warm and red. Anyway worse would have to be birthday boy- Shen Kiat. Ben, Melvin, Eric and Irvin real know how to get him to drink. SK kept saying that he wouldnt ask Ben to come next time.  Before cutting birthday cake, they already got him to drink alot. After cutting the cake, he continued with the drinking "spree". Even girls get to "drink" with him (ours are fruit punch) though he kept saying that we are good
people and we shouldnt drink with him.

By the end, he really was drunk. He kept calling Ben names (rotten egg), and even demanding for more alcohol. But he kept saying that he is alright by calling out each of our names, shouting "steady", shake hands with each of us, asking us not to video it. Really fun, though abit bad that he got so drunk.  His most memorable, ending speech would have to be "Thank You for coming. Hope you enjoy. Dont tell others. Warn you guys if you want to have 21st birthday party. I love you."

Took the train to Clementi. While walking home, I was on the phone with sy. Didnt want to walk home alone. Plus was really sleeply and tired. Haha. Thought he wouldnt be home, but he sounded abit sleepy. Dont know if I woke him up. Oh yesterday I heard the girl's version of Lonely Northern Global Part. My favourite!

Not really in a good mood today. Just chilling out to loud music now. But last nite had been great fun.

Friday, July 16, 2004

Didnt sleep much last nite...

When the door to my room shuts
my tears flow
as though permission was granted
I looked into the mirror
but I could none of my life
Only a lie.

Thursday, July 15, 2004

There seems to be nothing wrong with my life. But apparently, there seems to be nothing else in my life either. Shucks.. feeling depressed again. Dont feel like doing anything; yet I dont feel good not doing anything.

Wednesday, July 14, 2004

I think most people are over with the " ocean's- songs- craze" but all I am listening now are his songs. His songs give me that little bit of happiness... that sort of comforting feeling.

Anyway had been playing around with the digi cam, sleeping, teaching my mum how to use the computer for her work... Going to do a card, YES another card... After that I probably be thinking of looking around for ideas as to how to do a graduation card eg a card that you give people when they graduate.

Not that I am going to do it, but searching for ideas, papers and more ideas etc take some time. And suddenly hooked to this mint sweet that I couldnt stop eating. Plus, going to jog over the weekend. Want to lose some weights. And perhaps make a card for this friend whom is feeling down.Hope to go down to j8 to shop for formal clothes this friday. May attend my friend's 21st birthday on friday nite as well. Then hopefully can go over to
CA on saturday for a drink. Been there only once but definitely somewhere I want to hang out...

Tuesday, July 13, 2004

Yesterday morning was spend reading the papers and on the phone. Talking to my friend then later went online to check something for another friend. Then was talking till I left for school.

Met my college friends in canteen. Building-wise, not so much changes. Still feel so familiar with the slope when we always walked up for Physics Lecture. Kind of missed chapel too. But definitely felt old. Felt as though I had left school for a long, long time. Yet so nice to see Eric, Chong Hua, Pei Thung, Irvin, Shen Kiat, Yvonne, Sinli, Shufen, Xue Yan, Felicia... and Mr Chu. Too bad Mr Mannan is a student himself now. Everyone really wanted to meet him. Haha. After that, we hang around Coffee Bean @ Holland V aka Wan Wan's home (He Lan Chun must be Shen Kiat's fav TV drama already). Then went to Pei Thung's house cos he is driving and his dad needs the car later. Was learning how to play bridge and later we were so addicted to playing it till our discussion of where to have dinner didnt seem to get any further. Anyway eventually walked to Shaw House to have Mac. So funny, even when it comes to choosing between crossing the traffic lights & taking the underpass also can argue for a while. Then later also seemed to be fighting to see who (the four remaining girls or the four guys) can finish all their food! Anyway couldnt really decide what to buy for SK 21st birthday present. Haha should ask him what he wants right? Cos if you ask me, I will already know what I want (Need a formal watch- prefer those with leather strips or metallic body. Can do with a burberry shirt. Or perfume... haha nah by that time, what I want may change again.), though might not have a party. See first. Too early to tell.

Anyway by the time I reached home, I was feeling so sleepy watching TV that I went to bed and felt asleep already...

Monday, July 12, 2004

Going to bed soon... Just finished with <11july04 The days we ask how are we going to make it.doc> Brought back alot of semester memories :)

Sunday, July 11, 2004

Going back to college to meet up with my friends tomorrow. Anyway this is another bit about china..

Hotels
5 HOTELS FOR 9 NIGHTS
THINGS TO REMEMBER BEFORE YOU GET YOUR ROOM KEYS Important numbers that you need to survive through the nights. The room number that your tour guide is staying; how to make internal phone calls; numbers to the housekeeping unit in the hotel; which floor the restaurant is located; if there is toilet in the lobby (there isn’t toilet in the lobby of the hotel we stayed in Shanghai).
NIGHT VISITS BY JUN HAU Often he would knock on our doors (once he called) to see if we need help. Of course I need more help than others. *Haha*
AMAZING RACE Because we share our stuff (shampoos) so we have to run between two adjacent rooms to get our stuff. Plus we often leave our luggage at the hotels while we ventured to eg Putuo Shan Island and Huang Shan, so the unpacking and packing of clothing each night is like Amazing Race. Be accurate and fast. Quite fun to think of that. At least I never got tired of doing it again and again.
ROOM TEMPERATURE At Putuo Shan Island, I didn’t even dare to open the windows. No air cond for me that night also. And often in other parts of China, a temperature of 26?C is good enough for me since it is cold outside. But I heard them complaining of that temperature (cannot change as it is controlled centrally)
HOUSEKEEPING Good for me, don’t have to do my bed, bothered about those hotel towels that I threw on the floor (because it is too cold to walk barefooted)
TV At least 20 channels to go about, so don’t sleep too early. And that is always why you never would think about what’s on TV in Singapore. Can catch up with sleep when you are back with your Channel 8 and U.
WATER & HAIR DRYER It is a very troublesome thing to ask for boil water and always they either have hot water or cold water. No lukewarm water. But never mind since I am too lazy to boil water myself. And, if they don’t have hair dryer, you can ask for it. Though sometimes they have a time limit after which you have to pay for using it.
TOWELS I don’t use the hotel towels to clean myself. While, they have other uses- lay them on the floor, dry my feet
4 * HOTELS IN PUTUO SHAN ISLAND & HUANG SHAN means the facilities in the rooms are better, and often they have hair dryer for you (in Putuo Shan Island). But I feel that even 3 * hotels in China are alright, so you don’t have to waste money on wanting to stay in 4 *.

Toilet in china
WALLS Sometimes I don’t know why they are comfortable with the low walls for toilet cubicle. Especially when you have your menstruation, I don’t know how you can feel relaxed during toilet visit. In fact, such toilet visits are the most stressful thing for me throughout the trip. That’s why I still like hotel toilets even though you can hear the next room occupant flash before you do.
DOORS Can you do your toilet business in peace if it doesn’t come with a door? Super stressed! So be appreciative if you come across doors that can’t lock. Get something to guard for you.
HOLE Not a toilet bowl but just a black hole that you felt like throwing up just looking at it
DRAIN Neither a toilet bowl not a hole, those toilets that are like drains are also as bad. Everything from the last cubicle would flow to the first one, so pray hard you don’t get the first cubicle.
FLUSH Don’t breathe and try very best not to look down, because it is super disgusting. I am always traumatized after each such visit.
TOILET PAPER In better places, the toilet paper provided is good for use. In some places, especially those petrol stations, the toilet paper they provide are as rough as the floor. Trust me! I should have taken one home or take a photo of it. By looking at the photo, you would already know how rough it is. Not a very nice thing to use.
“ Despite no good words about most toilets in China from me, I feel that the toilet itself is China’s most honest attraction. It is not manufactured and it paints the picture of China just so well. If you come back from China and never know how their bad toilets are, then I wonder if you took the right flight to the right country or not…”
“Toilets in those sub- urban country sides are known as Mao Che. You would see a little, short building in the middle of the field with a small wooden door and you know it is their toilet. I don’t think I have been to the worse, because these Mao Che which never have flash (I don’t think they have right?) would be much worse…”

Stars
POPULAR STARS S.H.E is super popular; their drinks ads are plastered at those bus stops in Shanghai. Wang Lee Hom in Huang Shan (on the day that I left Shanghai, he is holding concert there). David Beckham in Huang Shan.

My 11 days fast fact sheet
My savior drink in china
Coca Cola

My savior sweet/ necessity in china
Mentos- strong mint,Halls- Honey Lemon favour, VitaminC

My night entertainment in china
TV

My favourite brand in china
Meters Bonwe

The song I had it singing in my head
Lonely Northern Global Part by Ocean. (Had the lyrics copied in my journal)

The things I have grown tired to do in china
Eat.
Visit the loo. (till now 09th July 2004, I felt a chore to visit toilets because I lost counts of how many times I visit the toilet in a day in China.)

The things I never grow tired to do in china
Taking photos.
Looking at some oriental, tradition or ancient Chinese stuff. (Yes, those red, red stuff that I thought I don’t like them, but I do)
Listening to (some of them) Chinese history.
Temples visit
Listening to those historical events that happened before (sometimes and that is the better thing on joining a tour)
Overlook the mountains at Huang Shan.
Shopping, especially at Meters Bonwe or Nanjing Road.
Watching late night TV.
Looking out from Shanghai Oriental Towers.

Was happy the second time of the day. Those talks about how they could have gotten our grades wrong... that one weekend when all the calculations and report were completed for IA, that last IA presentation day that rained and feeling super cold in that room, the day when we did our CF, IA exams... those really nice school days that we thought "How are we going to make it", but,
still, we made it...

Made my lazy afternoon less lazy when i saw the matching poem by Zen. Very nice of him.

Last week,
I left myself with another option
I accept it but deep down
I hadnt make any decision yet

A year down,
when i recall
of the decision I had to made,
i hope it comes without regrets
though i wouldnt dare to ask for pride
I know my dream is a tough one

As the camera click away
I hope to remember your smiles
whenever if we are leaving all together
or i am left behind
I still hope to remember your smiles

You reminded me that different people will choose different paths in life. As I was at the crossroads last week, I choose to take my dream path. There would be a check- point one year from now. If I continue to stick to this path, Yes,I sure need the courage to withstand the hard work, the loneliness and once again the hard work. If I choose to leave, Yes, I sure need also the courage to withstand my decision. Hope whatever decision I will come to one year later, I would not leave myself with any regrets. To take or not to take is a difficult decision to make because taking it up doesnt guarantee a second upper hons. Using my present results as a benchmark, I would need lots & lots (x1000) of hard work to work for that second upper. I still remember when I enter Business School, I want to make it to the hons. When i receive my results for the first time, I didnt really know I was far from it. The second time, I started to get worried for it didnt get any nearer. So I tried harder and when the third time came, I was suprised and happy for it, though I am still far from it. Before the fourth time came, I was too tired to even try thinking of getting near to my dream as the modules I took was real tough. I thought, as long as I dont take any more steps backward, I should be thankful. When the fourth time came, I was happy. When finally I was being offered of the course, I was indecisive. If one extra year doesnt gives me a second upper, then I shouldnt take it. But really who knows...

So i took it up but deep inside no decision is made as yet..

Think I mentioned my friend said this before; she said that I could publish those travel narratives on China. I told her if she is the publisher then I really could :) Anyway this is another part that says about the weather, food & taking photos in China. Next, you can look forward to hearing about the hotels, toilets (yap lots about toilets) & the stars in China..

Weather in China
Super cooling. Like natural air condition. There isn’t a time when you would sweat. And now you know where their skin is so beautiful. But during summer it could be as warm as us too. Heard on radio news that the government in Shanghai would switch off streets lights soon so that the electricity will be enough to supply air conditional to people in the city. As well, when it is so warm, we were told that tour guides don’t bring tours already. Plus, what is the point of climbing Huang Shan if every step you take is tedious and sweating? You would miss the wonderful bits. So choose the best time to go. Don’t go there when the weather is like ours. No point.

Eating & drinking in China
MEALS salty + oily (even soup is made up of 50% oil, 50% water- I never drink their soup) and sometimes fatty (especially Dong Po Pork). They served omelette almost everyday. Was so sick of it that the first few days back in Singapore, I skip eggs even though it is one of my favourites. Most common food – cucumber. And never in my life would I find them in so many styles.
RICE Since most of the time were spent visiting various tourist attractions, the most strenuous activity of the day would have to be walking. And because we are always on the road, I try to have enough rice, afraid that I would be hungry on the roads, and left with nothing more than biscuits to munch. But I wonder why they always make us eat from a real small bowl? Much smaller from the regular ones we have in restaurants here.
COKE The best consolation that I have is that Coca Cola (or Pespi Cola, Spirits and occasionally 7-Ups) is such an established and famous brand and nearly all restaurants, even restaurants in Huang Shan or Mount Huang served them. Without this sweet, fizzy drink to whet my appetite, I would have dread
mealtimes much earlier already. Grateful!
CHINESE TEA And luckily for the Chinese tea they served, towards the later days, I resorted to dipping my food (except rice) into the cup of tea to remove the oil and excess salt. Yap, everything from vegetables, fried omelette, prawns, meat are dipped into my cup of tea.
EVERYTHING WARM Orange juice can also be warm. Don’t know of this till I taste it for myself. One word- BAD.
EVERYTHING DILUTED Milk and soya milk tasted like plain milky water.
WESTERN BREAKFAST Once we had cereal and milk- feast (At the restaurant in Putuo Shan Island). Occasional we have bread, but never as nice as Gardenia.
FRUITS Watermelon. They said watermelon reduces heat in our body system. Anyway I eat it almost every time till I heard that they soak them sugar water so that they are always sweet. Only once we had apples and oranges (In Huang Shan) though I must say they taste super weird.
BEST MEAL Felt that Shanghai served better food. First time to try curry chicken, fried fish in Wu Xiang skin… And the only meal that I actually put the food into my mouth directly would have to be the last meal I had in China. Lunch was served at Shanghai’s Huang Jia Chuang Cai. The last, and also the best meal among the 9 days X 3 meals/ day. I like the fried prawns or Xia Ren; fried chicken (only get to eat more fried food in Shanghai); sweet pork and bun; Shanghai steamed dumpling they served (should try).
MEALS ON BOARD Hardly know what I was eating while on China Eastern, but really it wasn’t as bad as I imagined. Still ok, especially the ham or sausage they served. Plus the portion is quite big. Often comes with yoghurt, fruits, hams and stuff like that. Drinks are always sufficient.
OTHERS Other than the food they served, I only had Lao Beijing, Set 4B of KFC at Cheng Huang Mia or City Temple in Shanghai. All meals are provided in the tour package, which isn’t really a good thing for me. I rather them allowing me to chose what I want. If allowed, I would try the MacDonald meals over there too. And there is this fast food restaurant in Shanghai called Monday or Xin Qi Yi. I probably had Ajisan, pizzas from the various pizzas chains they have…

Taking photos in China
QUEUING It involves Q because sometimes the spot is super popular that everyone wants to take at that place. So you have to adjust your lens and stuff like that, get someone to take for you and wait. Sometimes you even have to be real fast and immediately step up while the previous one is done. Otherwise you never get your turn (especially if the locals are there too).
JUN HAU Good if you can always ask your tour guide to take photos for you. First he doesn’t take photos (except if he needs for some projects or it is also his first time there) and second when he is familiar with your camera, then you don’t have to teach him how to use it all the time. Jun Hau always helps us to take family shots too. And those times when I climbed slower (on
Huang Shan) to take photos.

Not feeling well yesterday. Better now already. Nothing much today either. Just feel like sleeping again.

For no particular reason, I couldnt sleep. Maybe because of the late nap I had. What I did for the day? Really nothing. Woke up & had breakfast, then went to central with grandma for lunch. Came back, showered, watch some tv & nap. Had dinner and watch some more tv. There goes another day. But already start to treasure each passing holiday.

Some things that dont come the second time, really meant once in a lifetime... i start to understand this.

Super excited because finally at one sitting, I finished the journal on China trip of 19.7 MB, a total of 78 pages (almost like what an Honours thesis required). 18,856 words, 569 paragraphs, 2,501 lines on and on and on :)

Thought every bit of the China trip memory would be in there. Quickly burn it and those photos into a CD. Will start uploading some interesting parts... Btw, the china journal is titled

Traveling around China
ROADS are dusty, misty. In Suzhou, Hangzhou, they have bicycle lanes as well.
TRAFFIC is messy, don’t know when to cross, cars go in opposite directions as Singapore, and they don’t look out for people like you. I am afraid of crossing roads in Singapore already, so crossing roads there is bad for me. Always have to hold hands to do so.
BANNERS A lot of banners can be seen along the roads and expressways in Suzhou and Hangzhou as well. Banners that promote road safely, fire safely, building a home, developing their homes etc.
ADS In Shanghai, everything is almost like in China. Large, colourful and interesting ads, mostly of foreign investment, brands that we will know too. Also they have those big, rectangular signs that advertise mostly foreign brands and those wordings on the buildings (like IKEA) are in Chinese.
HOUSES In Suzhou, Hangzhou, those sub- urban areas, it is clear enough to know which household is richer than the rest by looking at the materials used to building, especially the roof tiles.

Surprises in china
4 STAR HOTEL IN PUTUO SHAN ISLAND is much better than those in other areas. Same thing as like the hotel in Huang Shan.
DAVID BECKAM IN HUANG SHAN Super surprised to find a huge poster hanging over a building (think owned by China Telecom or something) while in Huang Shan. Even he is there. Miracle of the media.
LAO JIE IN HUANG SHAN Another miracle of human. Stunned to find that they have such a shopping street in Huang Shan too. Sells lots of handy crafts stuff that could be quite beautiful and memorable.
BEAUTIFUL HUANG SHAN + the wonderful and cooling weather. Nothing can be better than being on top of the mountains. If you ask me, I would tell you the 6 hours coach ride, including the bumpy times and the eye- opening and disgusting toilet visits are all worth it.
TOILET IN HUNAG SHAN Good enough for relaxing toilet visit. Water from the tap is real cooling. Gives you the extra refreshing feeling you never get enough of.
BREATHING TAKING SHANGHAI ORIENTAL PEARL TOWER Especially the outdoor viewing area. I still don’t know where in Singapore to find such a tall and gorgeous spot to overlook our island.

Shocks in china
BEGGAR Even though I would like to give money to them, we were told not to because there might be other beggars that would pester you when they see you giving money.
TOILET The thing about the toilet- you can hear how disgusting from me, you can read what I write, but I still think the experience will tell you all. Don’t avoid such an experience even though it is nothing near beautiful because I find that even going to the worse toilet teaches you something. It makes you more appreciative of what you have in Singapore. I don’t feel comfortable to going to toilets in coffee shops in the past, but now if I really have to, I would. And just last week I did. I find that there is nothing more of a dirty toilet that I can’t take it already.

Dont know why the page still says there is error for my photo url, so the photo couldnt appear. And I am not born in the year of boar argh... haha

Woke up almost at nine. Thought was running late for the talk at ten. Arrived there and saw familiar faces. Hardly can remember their names already : ) thats what the 3 mths holiday break does.. The talk only took one hour. They werent really "promoting" it, i guess they talk it we are all taking it already. They said the hons allow you to command a premier over salary, especially if you graduate with first class hons. Haha first class hons isnt in my list. Wouldnt be able to make it loh! But anyway was talking to my friend over the phone for almost half an hour whether to take it or not. Think my phone is old already (at least 3 years old already, from jc times till now) sometimes cant hear clearly. Or was it because the background was just too noisy.

Anyway super happy to see the shu jiao store still in arts. The western food also remains there. My friend said the vegetarian store is nice, next time bah.

Erm three other friends might be booking for the HK trip first. Left two of us (because of me) who would confirm on saturday. And my friend said its ok to not know how to speak canto.. haha. Oh and i dont get this- with barely 3 souls in cj kok law library, i dont know why still cant allow me to whisper real softly in here... But nevermind.. later might walk back to buz ad to have mango sago... :)

Going to look through the modules for next semester... and you know what, i hadnt been working on the china journal for almost days already... shucks...

but because there are quite abit of stuff, hurry isnt a wise choice either. Still thinking about the hons thingy. Was told that this is the only time they are offering it to me. Withdrawal from the course would need approval and a CAP of 4.0 mim for a second upper hons. At this point of time, I am not that clear about what I want in life still. I mean, life for me is like tumbling and finding my way as I move along. All I know is that I would be taking on a different route as all of my friends. A lonely route for me?

As I stood and thought
one year from now
I will be your camera-man
because all my dear friends would be graduating
without me

As I make my choice this week
I see one year from now
I will be happy for you
but at the same time
I am outside of your happiness...

Would spend this whole week to think of my decision if to take on honours course. My priority for now...

Greece won, much to my disappointment. Guess disappointment came because it didnt turn out as i expected. But life doesnt turn out how you expect it. And was sleeping some of the time. Tired from painting earlier on.

Had fun painting the walls (white) and the wooden windows (red) with jia yun, chris, sam and two other guys at hwa, whampoo drive. Especially satisfied when i alone finish painting the two windows red.

Almost done with packing of my room. Quite tidy now. And oh the happy thing today is that my grandma bought presents from australia for us. super love things from australia, their culture and stuff like that. the last time i went to australia was rather long ago (couldnt even remember which year exactly already) and intending to visit there again!

Going to leave my house soon. Was super tired yesterday though the painting hadnt start. Felt asleep already at 8pm. Anyway we had to scrape and clean the walls first, though some other group started already. And we admired them (painting) in envies.

Didnt know who called yesterday. Thought was you. And on the way home, I thought of this poem, which says how I feel.

I thought, tiredness
will let me into my heart
To let me be clear what it has to say
But
it shut me out
I still dont hear myself...

Finished watching part 1 & 2 of Internal Affairs. Should go get part 3 soon huh. Didnt do much today except that only. Shall continue my writing soon.. I'm missing those days of writing already.

Was watching Internal affairs I but hadnt finish disc2. Found it quite interesting. Took my mind of alot of things. Photos from the china trip were developed. I was arranging them nicely in the album. Really love the one I took on Brightness Top with the mountains as the background. Very beautiful. Would I be back there again? Also completed the card I was making for my friend's 21 birthday. Made a bookmark (in the shape of Singapore) and wrote my message on it. Going to get it laminated so that it would last. Then just need to send it over...

Nothing much. Didnt have much idle time to seriously think about things. Perhaps tomorrow. The weekends are occupied too. Otherwise next week. Also hope that my holiday plans were be achievable cos really want to go.

Chilling out in my room now, a place I attempt to seek solitary & quietness. My mood didnt seem to get any better even though I was super excited for a while yesterday when I was talking to charles. And despite the fact that I went to the travel agencies yesterday. No plans yet, but hopefully I can get away for a few more days. Hadnt been doing any proper writing for days already :(

Been sleeping in only when the match is done. Kinda bad I know. Was falling asleep soon after Portugal's OG.

Almost done with my hand-made card for my friend's birthday. Took me the whole nite as I waited for the match to start. My fingers were all sticky and gluey and numb lor, but since it turned out nice, I guess anything is quite worth it. I once told someone, if my hand- made card can bring a smile to your face for just one moment, anything & everything is worth it.. I bet I no longer bring it to you huh.

Who to bring a smile on my face?
If I cant change the ending, why should I avoid?
